George Ertle
George, a recipient of the Buford M. Watson, Jr. Memorial Scholarship, graduated as a Dayton Civic Scholar with a degree in Political Science from the University of Dayton . As an undergraduate, George interned for the City of Dayton 's Office of Management and Budget. George gained valuable experience researching management and budget priorities and preparing memorandums. As an intern, George had the unique opportunity of managing the contract for the City's biennial public opinion survey from start to finish. He was responsible for writing the request for proposal, selecting the vendor, writing and approving survey questions, and communicating with the vendor. Through his experience with the City of Dayton , George had the opportunity to be involved in several projects covering a broad range of issues such as land banking, code enforcement, anti-prostitution efforts, and fleet management.
George currently works as an administrative intern for the City of Leawood , Kansas where he has helped develop and implement a plan for recycling in city parks. George assists the Leawood Citizen Green Task Force by conducting research and developing sustainability programs. George is currently facilitating Leawood's application to become a bicycle friendly community.
George looks forward to a position that will allow him a broad range of experiences, and one in which he can explore his specific interests in budget management and economic development.
