Because our programs are offered across three campuses, advising responsibilities are shared among multiple staff members. If you are unsure who to contact for issues related to course selection, enrollment, current course performance, graduation, or anything else, review the information below for guidance.

If you have questions related to applying to one of our programs, contact the advisor listed below for the program and campus you are considering.

Ray Hummert

Ray serves as the advisor for the Lawrence-based MPA students, including the City & County Leadership intern-option students. He also advises all international applicants and current international students in the MPA program. Lawrence-based students should start with Ray for any advising needs.

In addition, all MPA students should contact Ray for assistance with leaves of absence or any other change-of-status issues and questions about MPA alumni working in the area.

Lesley Owens

Lesley serves as the advisor for MPA students based at the Edwards Campus. Edwards-based students should start with Lesley for most advising questions. However, they can contact Ray for issues related to leaves of absence.

If you are considering applying to the MPA program and would be interested in taking most classes at the Edwards Campus, contact Lesley for questions you have about the degree and admissions.

Noel Rasor

Noel serves as the advisor for MPA students based at the Public Management Center in Topeka. Topeka-based MPA students should start with Noel for most advising questions. However, they can contact Ray for issues related to leaves of absence.

If you are considering applying to the MPA program and would be interested in Topeka as your primary campus, contact Noel for questions you have about the degree and admissions.

Dan is the advisor for all undergraduate students majoring or minoring in Public Administration. He serves as the main point of contact for both current students in the program and for undergraduate students exploring the major or minor in the field. He can answer questions about the program and about general education requirements for undergraduates at KU.

Diana assists current MPA students in their final semester of the masters program as they prepare for graduation. Contact her if you are a current MPA student and plan to graduate this semester. You can also contact her with questions about processes related to graduation requirements. Students with questions about courses completed or courses still needed to graduate should contact their primary advisor as listed above.
